This 50,000 SF, LEED Gold certified building is currently the only facility in the country that manufactures FSC-certified wood trusses. Hayward Lumber is the leading supplier of FSC-certified lumber products on California's central coast. All of the electricity necessary to operate the facility is generated by the photovoltaic panels that cover half of the large roof area. It is a 14,400 SF photovoltaic array that provides 118 kW of electricity. The project also features an extensive rainwater collection system that captures rainwater from the roof and stores it in two 30,000-gallon underground cisterns. Rainwater runoff from the parking lot is also minimized through the use of pervious pavers. Water conservation is also achieved through the use of waterless urinals, low-flow fixtures, and ultra-efficient dishwashers.
