CADE Winery is the latest project from PlumpJack. Located in the heart of Napa County's Howell Mountain, the CADE estate is a 54-acre, rocky, well-drained hillside facing southwest at nearly 1,800 feet of elevation. With 21 acres planted in 2004 (19 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon and 2 acres of Merlot), CADE will showcase the wines from this estate property as well as the Howell Mountain appellation. The development of the new winery began in June of 2006 with the construction of a nearly 15,000-square-foot cave, an adjoining winery, and a separate hospitality building. Completion of CADE Winery is scheduled for early summer 2008. The winery is registered under the LEED for New Construction rating system. The project's green goals and design strategies include energy savings of at least 21% beyond California's Title 24 energy code requirements, solar energy harvesting to meet 25% of the building's energy demand, the use FSC certified wood and recycled-content and low-emitting materials, and the recycling of at least 50% of the construction waste to divert it from landfill.
