Lynn N. Simon's Affiliations and Activities

The U.S. Green Building Council is the nation's foremost coalition of leaders from across the building industry working to promote buildings that are environmentally responsible, profitable and healthy places to live and work. The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is leading a national consensus for producing a new generation of buildings that deliver high performance inside and out. Council members work together to develop LEED® products and resources, the Greenbuild annual International Conference and Expo, policy guidance, and educational and marketing tools that support the adoption of sustainable building.

Lynn has been involved with the USGBC since the very early years. She was one of the original staff members, serving as Program and Marketing Director, when the organization had less than 200 members. She has been actively involved on many levels from serving on the Board of Directors for 6 years to serving as Chair of the LEED Accredited Professional Task Force, spearheading the development of the LEED AP exam. She is currently serving on the Governance and Curriculum & Accreditation committees. She is a LEED-NC Faculty member and on the LEED Homes provider team in the state of California.

Global Green USA is the American affiliate of Green Cross International, founded by Mikhail S. Gorbachev. GG USA works in cooperation with industry, individuals and government to create a global value shift toward a sustainable future. The organization is working to "green" affordable housing; promote green power to reduce greenhouse gases; mediate water rights in the Middle East; advance safe chemical weapons disarmaments, decommissioning, and forward the return of shuttered military bases to environmental and ecological harmony.

Lynn was Program Director for Global Green USA's Resource Efficiency and Sustainable Communities for Urban Environments (RESCUE) program and a Senior Fellow for their Greening Affordable Housing Initiative (GAHI). She developed, managed, and implemented programs, trainings, and tools that incorporated and promoted the design, construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance of energy and resource-efficient building for affordable housing providers, commercial developers, and design professionals.
